From challenging myself with podcasts to covering my first election season, I’m so grateful for all the professional opportunities I had in 2022. Here’s to another year of informing the #Camarillo and #VenturaCounty communities! Debbie Gohlke will never forget the moment she learned that the United States is not immune to human trafficking. It was nearly two decades ago at a convention of the Soroptimist International of the Americas in Philadelphia. For the first time in 16 years, Morgan Maginnis will soon have a place of her own to call home. Rachael Watkins knows that the decision to request a restraining order is anything but easy. In the new year, the city will take steps to help first-time homebuyers purchase property in Camarillo. Those who knew and loved Chad Atkins—cofounder of nonprofit animal rescue Paw Works—appreciated his big personality and even bigger impact on animals and the community. Camarillo residents who drive to Oxnard, Simi Valley or Westlake Village to shop at Costco may soon have a shorter trip, city officials announced Tuesday. Two new council members were sworn in Dec. 7 during Camarillo’s annual reorganization meeting. Walking into the gift shop at St. John’s Camarillo, you will find an environment nearly as healing as the rest of the hospital.
